Negative review Last Update is a Big Mess! by Not Reading Magazines
I was using Zinio just fine and then updated to the latest version. Big Mistake!! Now downloading any magazine takes more than 30 minutes!! And half the time it just freezes. I don't know what they changed but it wasn't for the better. I have been in contact with Zinio support and all they say is that they're working on the problem. What a waste! 1/5
Negative review No longer works on Android by der_lizzard
Latest version is a disaster. Downloading magazines is no longer possible and it crashes every single time I try to use it. It used to work great but is now useless. 1/5
Negative review A substandard piece of programming by anonym
Well, I've been using this app for some months now after moving all three of my paper magazine subscriptions to Zinio. I have a Nexus10 tablet and Motorola Moto G phone both running the latest OS (Kitkat 4.4.4). So, my experience? Well, having now read others remarks I'm going to have to agree. It's indescribably slow, unwieldy, prone to crashes and with no obvious way of contacting Zinio for tech support. These utterly negative experiences and remarks from thousands of users seems to have absolutely no eff 1/5
Neutral review Slow and unreliable by anonym
Zinio looks great but doesn't deliver where it counts - basic performance. On my android tablet it loads sooo slowly, often crashes and then won't reopen, and takes a ridiculous length of time to download a magazine. Even once loaded, the content may not be accessible - more crashes! It's also HUGE - easily the biggest app on my tablet. It only gets three stars because when it's working it looks great. However, I won't be renewing my subscriptions unless there is a big improvement. 3/5
Negative review Badly needs an update by anonym
I've been using the app for a few years now and it still has the problems that the device don't seem to want to change. For one thing the requirement to connect to the server every time the app is started is annoying if you have spotty 3G service. SD card support is also badly needed. Had I not invested so much on subscriptions, I would have abandoned this app a long time ago. 2/5
Positive review Good Poduct, Delivery needs work. by anonym
Good app, needs the ability to work off line, on an SD card. Can be slow to initialize which is frustrating while traveling. Quality of product is excellent, they just need to execute better on delivery. Not everyone is patient. 4/5
Negative review Poorly Executed by anonym
Not sure how this app has won awards, on the Nexus 7 it is slow to load, slow to download, and slow moving between screens. The worst part is the text feature which often doesn't format the text to the screen requiring you to slide left to right. Generally the user interface leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't use this app at all if the Denver Library didn't. I definitely would not buy anything from them. It gets two stars only because it is better than the windows 8 app which is a horror show. 2/5
Negative review Screwed by anonym
This app is fucked. I signed in through my library account. When I tried to read what I subscribed to it prompted me to download an app first from the playstore which I promptly did and of understandably it required me to sign in again only to discover neither my e-mail or password is in the app., and furthermore our library states that it's available 24/7 and there are no return dates, there better not be since a person is paying full retail stand price. You scumbags are ripoff artists...destroy your stupid app before you waste another hour of someones life! 1/5
Neutral review Room for improvement by anonym
I love zinio and reading magazines on my tablet, but the library management in the app is woeful. Why can't I select multiple issues to archive/delete? Why does it jump to the top of the list of magazines every time a change is made? Could be great, but it's really pretty clunky and awkward at the moment. 3/5
Negative review Update - completely useless! by anonym
Update - now won't open at all! Why is it getting worse and worse? Where have all your great tech guys gone Zinio? Particularly naffed off as I just spent £150 on subscriptions! Might well be asking for a refund! Previous post - Getting really fed up with this app. Crashes all the time on my tablet & phone. Used to be really stable but every new update seems to make it worse. 1/5
Negative review Crashes Constantly on Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) by anonym
Crashes almost every time I open the app. Crashes on downloads or when I switch out of the app then reopen it. This used to be a favorite app when I had iOS, now I'm frustrated at it on Android, especially now that I am a ZPass subscriber. 2/5
Negative review Great, but room for improvement by anonym
USED to be good ONCE.....USED to be OK once, IF you have a great deal of patience and a great desire for mag's on your device......NOW, it is utterly unusable!!!!! The mag's are "downloading" for more then an hour, never finish and....well at this point I can't get beyond that to tell as no matter how long I wait, no joy:( Forget it and download them in PDF from the net and use a good reader, ie...EZpdf. Utter rubbish, very sad! 1/5
Neutral review Good when it works by anonym
I was a massive fan of Zinio when I had an iPad. I have found the Android version to be a bit of second class citizen. The user interface for managing the library is a bit clunky, and I have found the the app often crashes during first attempt at downloading a new edition of a subscription. However, after a restart, it is usually fine. Those aside, when reading magazine, it just works very nicely, and renders two pages to a screen in landscape beautifully. 3/5
Negative review App still crashes frequently by anonym
Reported to developers multiple times - repeatable event no response Guess they just want money for magazines Looking at other magazine companies Not good customer service either 1/5
Neutral review Not bad by anonym
Bit slow compared with ios version - even on modern android tablet vs ipad 1. Also crashes after swapping tasks consistently for me. Otherwise still best way to get magazines. 3/5
Negative review Way too slow and buggy, needs ability to read offline by anonym
Decent UI, good functionality when it works and when online. But it takes forever to load and crashes frequently. And it's totally unforgivable that it must be connected to the Internet even to read a magazine I've already downloaded. Please provide for more seamless offline use (as in, get rid of the constant hangs, timeouts, and error messages about not being connected to the Internet). 2/5
Negative review Way too slow too down load. Way slow to open when you go back to magazine. Freezes and black screens frequently. by anonym
October 14 -nothing has changed. When works good. But still getting black screen most times despite reinstalling. Magazine purchased greater than 24 hours ago, still not available on any device. Zinio you need to understand that you are offering to provide a leisure activity which you are failing at miserably Now Aug 2014 -nothing has changed or improved. So glad that you have taken on board issues Ha Ha 1/5
Negative review Unreliable by anonym
Frequently crashes and hangs, and downloading is slow and stalls so frequently that I haven't been able to read a mag on my phone in several months. I stick with reading on my desktop. When the app works, it's great. It's just ridiculously unreliable. 2/5
Negative review Used to work by anonym
Nothing like paying for magazines you can't read because the app quit working. I'm reinstalling to try and fix the issue. 1/5
Negative review Run away and never look back by anonym
This product is absolutely awful. Functions properly about 25% of the time. Locks up regularly, won't open without an internet connection. Seems like a great deal on subscription prices but if you can't actually read what you buy it's no good. The browser/desktop version is just as bad so no matter what device you try and use it on you fail. I just cancelled all of my subscriptions and will never try using this companies product again. 1/5
Neutral review Good app but have had issues by anonym
Love the concept and there is a lot of content that interests me but I have had issues with the app closing unexpectedly and trouble with downloads not completing. If it would save your place in both the file and page when you leave and return, it would earn another star from me. 3/5
Positive review Nice little app by anonym
Allows access to magazines via subscription very useful for magazines that aren't easily available in stores. Would be nice if the widget enabled you to view magazines in your library in the same way google books enables you to see your books. 4/5
Negative review Dont bother by anonym
If the title you read has any "adult content" zinio is happy to sell it to you and take your money but if at a later time apple decide they dont like it, it will be removed from you mobile device. Complete scam. This has happened to me on three occasions. Epic fail Zinio. 1/5
Negative review What's new! Some bug fixes by anonym
I can't wait for one of the updates to get this to work again on the nexus so I never have to update it again. As of now I'm back to the black screen of death. Better than blue I guess? 1/5
Neutral review needs work on usability by anonym
i'm a heavy user of zinio, with hundreds of magazine in my library. been using the ipad version for years without any complaint. now i'm using an android tab, and a bit disappointed with this version of zinio. please add features to select and delete multiple magazines at a time. or at least, get the app to remember where i am when i'm deleting magazines, so i don't have to start from the top each time. 3/5
Negative review Inexcuseably Buggy by anonym
There's no reason a simple reader should be this buggy. It takes so long to download new issues that it would be easier to just pick up a magazine. New problems with this app are constant, and take too long to resolve. I've been living with this for more than a year due to subscriptions that I will not be renewing (at least not through Zinio). 1/5
Positive review Pretty decent app by anonym
This was one of my favorite apps on my old HP Touchpad. Unfortunately, it stopped working on it at the end of 2013. Although it was still possible to access my magazine on my laptop, that wasn't my preferred way to read. Now that I'm using an android tablet I've begun using the app again, and have even bought a few new magazine subscriptions. So far, so good.. 4/5
Neutral review App could use some optimization by anonym
The app runs slowly on my Nexus 5. Flipping through pages is not very responsive and often takes multiple attempts even after the issues have been downloaded. 3/5
Negative review Not great by anonym
Go to buy a magazine and get offered 3 different prices depending on using Android, Web browser or windows. Finally worked after a bunch of could not set up secure connection due to incorrect time on device (even though time and date are correct). Double click doesn't justify paragraph to screen width - very poor for a reading program. You have to punch to zoom and centre manually. Zoomed in pages are blurry for too long while rendering. 1/5
Positive review Great but some annoying usability issues by anonym
It's a great app. The only thing that really annoys me is that in the list of magazines it doesn't remember the location. So let's say I delete an issue after that it's up on the top of the list. What about just remembering where I've been? ? 4/5
Negative review Are you guys dumb or just unlucky by anonym
Got a lot of magazines but I can't view my magazine on my phone but can on my pc watch sucks. If I need my pc then I'll just buy the magazine off a newsstand. I travel a lot and it so much easier to just have my smart phone or tablet and a mag. Oh well butter luck next time.... Now your missing the adult under men and some others as well seems to be your get worse by the day!!!!! 1/5
Neutral review Useful but poorly made by anonym
Access to a huge amount of magazines, which are generally just basic pdfs, but still works well. When it works that is - the app constantly crashes and has done so for years over a wide variety of phones and tabs, particularly when trying to open it 3/5
Negative review Great app but needs SD storage option by anonym
This app would be 5 stars if I could store the downloaded magazines on my sd card. The magazines take up a lot of my Note 2 and Galaxy Note 8's storage. Also when you edit magazines to delete them, mass deletes with check boxes would be nice. The app makes you delete them one at a time. The android version doesn't have the same options as the iPad app. Can't set it to auto download and keep the last 3 months of magazines. I like having all my magazines in this app. 1/5
Negative review Unreliable and major restrictions by anonym
I've used it for a while now (on S3 and S5) and firstly it's very low quality - oftern fails to start, or times out doing so (even wifi connection). THen, it doesn't allow you to put the files on the SD and even if it did, it doesn't let you read offline! 1/5
Negative review Can't read offline, unstable by anonym
Not allowing the app to load without a data connection is unforgivable. I want to read downloaded magazines on the subway! The app has been crashing lately too. I see absolutely no reason to renew my subscriptions using this service. 1/5
Positive review Love! by anonym
Zinio is great! I especially like that when I get a periodical I can read it on all my devices because they have an app for every platform. Subscription issues are available even after your subscription expires, unlike other platforms that only allow you access during the time period you subscribed. I get alot of craft magazines that I want to reference later on and Zinio allows me to do that. 5/5
Negative review Zinio isn't awesome by anonym
I use this to connect to my local library collection. It crashes my wireless, locks up, randomly doesn't load a whole magazine, and spontaneously reboots my tablet. When it works it is fine. I wish that happened on any regular basis. 2/5
Negative review So broken by anonym
Won't even let me log in any more. Did a password reset and was told my email wasn't known. It then sent a new password that doesn't work to that address. WTF? Seriously WTF? 1/5
Negative review Application can not install to default location.... by anonym
It appears to me to be a POS application.... Sorry, not even going to try to get it installed. Never had this problem... MUST be the application. 1/5
Negative review Worst POS app by anonym
This app used to work fine on my new nexus. Then it crashed, forgot my password and won't allow me to register a new user account! I went to the website on my laptop and the site won't let me register either! I don't know wtf is wrong with this company but they def don't have their sht together. Forget the fact I pay $100 a month for a subscription to a business journal, I can't even read it or access it on my mobile devices any more. Zero stars until you figure your sht out, zinio!! 1/5
Neutral review Just ok by anonym
Can read offline but very clunky and worst of all have to manage each MAG one by one instead of multiple so when the app crashes often, have to re download all over again, then delete read mags one by one, dozens of them. Not a smooth experience. 3/5
Positive review Light user, no problems by anonym
I have the app loaded on my laptop and my Posh Mobile Memo. I signed up through my library, so my costs are nonexistent, and I guess only downloading a few magazines allows me to not overburden the system. I can read a few articles in bed before going to sleep. For me, Zinio loads quickly, every time, and I have no problem finding the magazine I want, or going back to the article I was reading. 5/5
